Author: Jessica Spotswood
Release Date: 7 Feb. 2012
Publisher: Putnam's Sons for Young Readers

Synopsis from Goodreads

Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they're witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave.

Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word . . . especially after she finds her mother's diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family's destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra.

If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren't safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood—not even from each other.
Doesn't is sound like a fantastic book? And look at that cover! I am so excited for this book.

Fracture

Title: Fracture
Author: Megan Miranda
Release Date: 3 Jan. 2012
Publisher: Walker Books for Young Readers
Pages: 224

Synopsis from Goodreads

Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine
-despite the scans that showed significant brain damage. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?

I have been wanting to choose Fracture for a while, but have had so many other amazing books to feature as well. And this is the closest I can find to a ghost book coming out that I've been waiting for. Really, where are all the ghost books? This one isn't even dead! Although, it sounds AMAZING, doesn't it? And I love the cover!

"Waiting on" Wednesday: The Scorpio Races

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here is my pick of the week!

Title: The Scorpio Races
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Release Date: 18 Oct. 2011
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Pages: 416

Summary taken from Maggie's website:
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live.Others die.
At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.
Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

I love Maggie's books. All of them. After reading Lament I couldn't help but search for four leaf clovers. The Wolves of Mercy Falls are the prettiest books I own, and when I got Shiver I must have carried it around with me all week. Her writing is amazing and I am so excited for her new book! It sounds really unique and interesting and just as awesome as her others.

Waiting on Wednesday (1)

Title: Audition

Author: Stasia Ward Kehoe

Release Date: 13 Oct. 2011

Publisher: Viking Juvenile

Pages: 464

When high school junior Sara wins a coveted scholarship to study ballet, she must sacrifice everything for her new life as a professional dancer-in-training. Living in a strange city with a host family, she's deeply lonely-until she falls into the arms of Remington, a choreographer in his early twenties. At first, she loves being Rem's muse, but as she discovers a surprising passion for writing, she begins to question whether she's chosen the right path. Is Rem using her, or is it the other way around? And is dancing still her dream, or does she need something more? This debut novel in verse is as intense and romantic as it is eloquent. (from Amazon.com)

The cover is what caught my eye, and then I read the summary and found it just as intriguing as the cover. Plus, I have a soft spot for books in verse. I know people who devote their lives to dancing (not as intense as, I'm sure, the characters in this book do) and I can't wait to read how she strays to a new passion, and how the Remington will react! She's even living with a host family. I've always wanted to be a foreighn exchange student, or something similar to it. I'm excited for this one.
